| The 14-year-old AES registered dam Suma’s Zorro is leading the Hippomundo ranking of the best showjumpers worldwide. Via her sire, ARD VDL Douglas, Suma’s Zorro is a granddaughter of legendary progenitor Darco. In the dam line we find thoroughbred and Irish blood. Suma’s Zorro’s dam, Vixens Frolic, is a daughter of the thoroughbred Horos out of a daughter by Pride of Shaunlara. Her daughter Coolmore Frolic produced the international eventer Up Up And Away. Suma’s Zorro is bred by Susan Lanigan-O’Keeffe and Marily Power (Suma Stud) and sold as foal to Joanne Sloan Allen (Sycamore Stables). This year Suma’s Zorro won already 836,344 euros prize money. In partnership with Egyptian rider Sameh El Dahan, Suma’s Zorro won this year the prestigious ‘CP International Grand Prix presented by Rolex’ in Calgary (1m70, 5*), as well as the Paris Grand Prix (1m60, 5*) and a 1m55 to 1m60-showjumping class in Cannes (5*). This duet also collected several honourable placings in five star tournaments, amongst them in Calgary, Valkenswaard, Chantilly, Monte Carlo, Saint-Tropez and Zurich.Gancia de Muze is ranked second, with 600,440 euros prize money. Perry De Winter bred Gancia by crossing the Nimmerdor-daughter Barones with Malito de Reves. Gancia de Muze is not the only feat of arms of Barones. The international showjumpers Freluche de Muze, Homer de Muze and Isolde de Muze are also descendants of Barones. Gancia de Muze and her rider Niels Bruynseels triumphed this year in the ‘s-Hertogenbosch Rolex Grand Prix (5*) and the Knokke Grand Prix (5*). Thanks to several clear rounds, Gancia and Bruynseels contributed to the Belgian golden team medal at the Nations Cup final in Barcelona.The top three is completed by Explosion W, a son of Chacco Blue out of Untouchable (by Baloubet du Rouet), bred by W. Wijnen. Boncetto W, a half brother to Explosion W, performed at international 1m40 to 1m45 level. This year, Explosion W and Ben Maher won for instance the Rome Grand Prix (5*) and the Madrid Grand Prix (5*), a 1m50 to 1m55 showjumping class in Paris (5*) and a 1m55 to 1m60 showjumping class in Shanghai (5*).Fit For Fun (by For Pleasure) claims the fourth place with 527,471 euros prize money, especially thanks to her fourth place in the Calgary Grand Prix and her second place in the Aachen Grand Prix.H&M Harley van de Bisschop (by Dulf van den Bisschop) is ranked fifth, with 519,465 euros prize money. |
